The East Auckland Folk Project was initiated by Cara Gilkison-Asher and Karen Jones in January 2014, with a mission to promote Folk Music in the East Auckland region.

 

In association with the Folk Fortnight, being held in Auckland between 22nd March, and 6th April, we organised two concerts, and also  some busking. We also carried out a radio interview on Radio Howick, and some of our members performed on the Gavy Gav show in the very late hours of the night. 

   

Cara has established a  singaround group, being held once a month in a private home. It started with 6, and has grown to 10 or 12, with more people showing an interest each month.
